about usWe are a group within the Computer Graphics department of
the School of Technology at Purdue University. This semester we are researching the method of 3D laser scanning and the process it takes to manipulate the resulting point cloud data within various 3D software packages, specifically Kubit. The laser that we will be working with is a FARO 3D Laser Scanner. We will be researching laser scanning within various industries, but primarily construction. The product at the end of the semester is an instructional method that trains CGT/BCM students how to set up a 3D laser scanner and to manipulate the resulting point cloud data in Revit. CGT 411CGT 411, Contemporary Problems in Applied Computer Graphics is a group based course that attempts to identify, design, qualify, manage, create and present a final project relative to existing or emerging issues within the discipline.
